Season 2 of Corporate T20 Cricket Starts with Jersey Unveiling & Captains Meet

Corporate cricket tournaments in Bangladesh are gaining popularity, and the anticipation for season 2 of GamesHour’s corporate T20 tournament was high. On October 4, GamesHour organized a grand Jersey Unveiling & Captains Meet program at Cadet College Club, Purbachal. Captains and officials discussed the new season’s regulations. Seven corporate teams confirmed their participation: City Bank, Daraz, Eastern Bank, Mutual Trust Bank, Stargaze International, Laila Group, and Amin Weekend Cricket Club.

The event was graced by GamesHour Director Shawkat Ali Miah and former Bangladesh national cricket team star Shahriar Nafees, who delivered inspiring speeches. Other notable attendees included Faisal Zaman, Head of Category, Agami Limited, Mohammad Hamdur Rahman, CEO, Rangs Limited, and representatives from the participating teams.

A Month-Long Action of Corporate t20 Cricket Tournament

Season 2 of the tournament unfolded at Masco Shakib Cricket Academy and Police Staff College Cricket Ground, with seven teams fighting for supremacy. Each team played six matches in the 21-game group stage. Tournament debutants Laila Group displayed remarkable consistency, securing the top spot in the league table in terms of NRR. Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) also maintained their composure, finishing in second place with same point as Laila Group, while the remaining teams experienced a mixed season. The group table ended with Laila Group, MTB, City Bank, Stargaze, Eastern Bank, Amin Weekend Cricket Club, and Daraz respectively.

Individual brilliance also shone throughout the tournament. Shovon from City Bank (252 runs), Zabir from Daraz (247 runs), and Monir Hossain Joy from Stargaze (205 runs) were the top 3 batters. AKZ Shipon (14 wickets), Ebadul Islam (12 wickets), and Izamam (12 wickets) were the best bowlers. AKZ Shipon of the Champion Team also won the player of the tournament for his display.

A Grand Wrap-Up of Season 2

Grand Finale between Laila Group & MTB: Trophy & Award Giving Ceremony

A thrilling second season of GamesHour Corporate Premier League T20 came to an end on November 4th as Laila Group & MTB clashed in the final match for the championship title. In a dramatic finish, Laila Group emerged victorious, snatching the Championship Trophy and etching their names as the champions of season 2 in a nail biting last-over thriller final. Batting first MTB put a total of 90 runs. Laila Group chased the run with 1 wicket in hand. There were 2 other matches that saw City Bank vs Stargaze in the plate final where City Bank won the Plate Championship Trophy.

In another showdown for the Bowl Final EBL faced Amin Weekend Cricket Club which saw EBL clinching the title. For individual brilliance, 3 other awards were given. Batsman of the tournament, Bowler of the tournament & Player of the tournament. Daraz also won the fair play award for their display in the tournament. BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu was the chief guest at the award ceremony. Former Bangladesh cricketer Shahriar Nafees and David Moore, head of programs at BCB, were also on the list of special guests.
